Forest School Fun 🦉

Following on from our Theatre visit to watch The Owl that came for Christmas, Mrs Engler planned a Forest School session for our little ones.
We made nests, Christmas owls, feeders, owl ice cream and even planted some Christmas trees 🌲 🦉

Bowbrook’s Got Talent 🌟

Bowbrook really has got talent! Our little superstars shone today as they took to the stage to perform their acts. Dancers, singers, comedians, artists, train enthusiasts – we had it all! We are so proud of you Bowbrook, you felt the fear & did it anyway! 💪🏻 & you would ALL get the golden buzzer in our eyes. 🥇 🌟

Bowbrook’s Baa’rmy Bethlehem 🐑

Our little ones raised the roof in their two West End worthy performances today!
Every child, aged 3-6, sang their heart out & portrayed ‘feeling the fear and doing it anyway’ in the most positive way we could ask for.
We are super proud of them all! 🐑 🌟

Run, run as fast as you can…

👨‍🍳 GINGERBREAD MAKING 👩‍🍳

We explored how to make gingerbread men that won’t run away (unlike the one out of The Gingerbread Man).
Next we will be adding our decorations and writing a set of instructions to give to the old man and old lady so they can try to bake a gingerbread man that they can eat!

Kingfishers visit Bowbrook House 🏠

We went to Bowbrook House to ask the residents all about what like was like when they were little, so we can identify changes over time as part of our History topic.

We finished off with a Christmas nativity sing song & left with early Christmas presents! 🎶

Future Doctors and Nurses

We have some future doctors and nurses in our school.

Today, we looked at how to keep our hearts and bodies healthy before exploring some lamb’s hearts and learning how they pump blood around our body.

🎁 Christmas Events-Important dates for your Diary 🎄

We are excited to share with you our upcoming Christmas events. We have a wonderful line up of activities planned to celebrate the festive season. Please take note of the following important dates and details:

30th November (9am-11am) – Christmas Movie Morning Enjoy some free time for Christmas shopping and drop your little one off to enjoy a Festive movie. Please only sign up for this if your child is able to sit comfortably through a movie. (Sign up on Arbor at a cost of £6).

2nd December – The Greatest Show at Adcote School (2-3pm) We are delighted to be taking Dragonflies & Kingfishers to Adcote school to watch The Greatest Show. Please note that collection from school will be at the later time of 3.30pm. Caterpillar children need to be collected at the normal time of 3.20pm (Please sign up on Arbor at a cost of £4.20)

3rd December – Wreath Making with Festive Tipples and Snacks (Adult Only Event) Join us for a fun and creative evening of wreath making, accompanied by festive drinks and snacks. Please reserve your place with Mrs Madden or Mrs Woosnam. £65 to be paid in cash at the time of booking.

6th December – Christmas Light Switch On 5-7pm This is a community event with stalls, games, and a bar. Friends and family are all welcome to join in the festivities. £2 for Adults £1 per Child to pay on the door.

12th December – Nativity We will have two shows at 1.30pm and 5pm. Come and enjoy the children’s performance of the Nativity story. We will also have festive drinks for sale at the evening performance. We ask for a maximum of 2 people, per child, to attend each show.

18th December – Whole School Trip to Theatre Severn We will be taking a trip to Theatre Severn to see “The Owl Who Came for Christmas.” This will be on Arbor in the next few weeks. We will subsidise the cost depending on funds raised from the Christmas Light Switch On.

19th December – Christmas Party (1-3pm) A fun-filled Christmas party for the children to celebrate the end of the term. Please send children to school in their favourite party clothes.

20th December – Break Up for the Christmas Holidays School will break up for the Christmas holidays.

We look forward to celebrating this festive season with you and your children. Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community.

Old MacDonald had a Farm 🚜

As part of Nursery Rhyme Week and to provide us with the opportunity to compare different animals, we had a visit from the Farm on Wheels. We were interested to find out whether they were carnivores or herbivores and used this information to compare and contrast with the animals we saw at Chester Zoo.

Chester Zoo 🦒 🐘

We had a great trip out to Chester Zoo! We saw so many different animals and had lots of super discussions about what we noticed. We can’t wait to consolidate our learning of this back at school.

Remembrance at Oxon Church

Our little ones visited Oxon Parish Church, Shrewsbury for the first time today.
Reverend Charlotte showed Dragonflies and Kingfishers around the church and taught the children all about Remembrance Day.
It was a lovely experience for us!

Poppin’ Popcorn 🍿

Forest school was fantastic this afternoon. We talked about fire and autumn. We found that fires can be lit from dry pine cones. We then used the fire to pop our kernel seeds to make popcorn. 🍿

At Bowbrook, we want our children to be confident communicators! In order to do so, we pride ourselves on using Makaton in our school to ensure all children have the best opportunity to communicate and interact effectively. 🙌🏼

Our singing assembly this half term has focused on the song ‘A sky full of stars’ by Coldplay – a fitting song for a school full of little stars. ✨

Outdoor adventures ☀️ 🍃

We made it out into the sunshine this afternoon.
We looked around first to see what had changed. We were introduced to our new fire square and talked about being safe.
Then we had fun exploring. The children tried new opportunities and were excited to get their wellies on. 🌳☀️🌳

Experiments, rainbows and snails 🐌

What an afternoon! 🧪
The children loved our afternoon at The Priory school with Mrs Rayment in the Science lab!
We took part in experiments that made us go WOW!!!🤩 Making rainbows, colour changing milk and the children’s favourite watching the fire bubbles!
We also held some stick insects and snails, and managed to bring back to school with us some new friends… 🐌

Drama Club

Drama club had their first session yesterday and the children explored how to portray different animals!

Drama is a brilliant way of children learning how to express themselves through action as well as important life skills such as voice projection, public speaking & collaborative work.
