Kingfishers trip to Hoo Zoo 🐒

We are pleased to let you know that on Thursday 8th October, Kingfishers will be visiting Hoo Zoo. This exciting trip will support our learning about mammals.

Lunch Arrangements

  • A packed lunch will be provided by school.

What to Bring and Wear

Please ensure your child brings:

  • A waterproof coat
  • A small bag to carry their packed lunch
  • A water bottle
  • Please ensure your child wears their school uniform. Children may wear their own comfortable shoes suitable for walking around the zoo.

Cost of the Trip

The cost of the trip is £23.40 per child. If you are able to make a contribution, this can be paid via the Arbor app.

Please be assured that all school trips are open to every child. Contributions towards the cost are voluntary, and no child will miss out if you are unable to contribute. However, we do rely on enough contributions being made overall for the trip to go ahead.

Consent

We already hold your consent for your child to attend this trip, so no further permission is required.

Wave Rave 🌊

🌞🔥 What a day at Bowbrook!

Despite the heatwave, our amazing children showed incredible determination, working so hard and giving their best all day long 👏💪

To celebrate their effort and resilience, we turned up the fun with a well-earned Wave Rave! 🌊🎶💃 The perfect way to cool off, let loose, and make some fantastic memories together!
So proud of their positivity, teamwork, and energy… even in the heat! 💛🙌

International Day 🇪🇸

Feeling hot, hot, hot for our International Day! ☀️ 🇪🇸

Our children performed amazingly in our Spanish assembly, showcasing their work from across the year.

We tried some Spanish food, made ‘sangria’ & even took part in a special dance workshop. 💃

Although it is not a necessity, we are proud to offer foreign languages to our little ones. ✨

Kingfishers visit British Ironworks ⭐️

Kingfishers visit the British Ironworks!

Kingfishers had an unforgettable visit to the British Ironworks, where they explored incredible sculptures, learned about craftsmanship, and discovered how creativity and recycling come together in amazing ways. 🎨🔧

From giant metal animals to inspiring artworks, there was so much to see and spark imagination!

Arts Week 🎨

Arts Week 2026 – completed it ✅

Swans enjoyed a trip to the Quarry to combine Art & History and created some beautiful sketches.

After our crayons brightened up our school with their performance, each classroom was delivered a colour by the colour catcher! We decided our world is much more interesting with lots of colours in it & explored adding our colour to our classrooms. 🎨

Arts Week 2026 ✨

Arts Week 2026 ✨

We’re 3 days into our Arts Week & the creativity is flowing across the school.
We started our week with Monochrome Monday – imagining the world without any colour. ⚪️⚫️

Since then, we’ve explored a range of different artists in our House Groups, visited Attingham Park to explore art in nature, had a tile painting workshop & even explored art at Forest School.

Kingfishers are going to The British Ironwork Centre 🚌

We are pleased to let you know that on Tuesday 2nd June Kingfishers will be going to The British Ironwork Centre. This is to support our learning about nature and seasonal changes.

• Kingfishers children will have a packed lunch provided by school

Kingfishers explore Shrewsbury 🌍

What a wonderful day Kingfishers had exploring our beautiful town.

Our morning consisted of an art workshop, sketching from real life and then creating our own self portrait.
We then carried out some Geography fieldwork through town following a map and finding human features.
We ended the day with a tour of the library and a shared story.

Kingfishers Trip to Shrewsbury Town Centre 📚🗺️🚌

Kingfishers Class will be visiting Shrewsbury Town Centre on Thursday 19th March. This will support their Geography learning about the local area. During the visit, the children will use simple maps to navigate around the town. They will also visit Shrewsbury Museum to take part in an Art workshop linked to our illustration project, followed by a trip to the library to explore a range of book genres.

We will leave school at  9.15am, returning at 3.00pm.

The cost for this trip is £12.30, which includes entry fees, work shop, transport, and insurance. Payment should be made via your child’s Arbor account before the date of the trip. Although contributions are voluntary, the school has no alternative funding for educational visits, so we kindly hope that all families are able to contribute in some way.

Packed lunches will be provided to everyone on this trip.

Children will need to bring a waterproof coat and a water bottle. Please ensure they are wearing their full school uniform.

We are all off to Xplore! Science Discovery Centre 🚌

To celebrate the end of Science Week, we are delighted to share that the children will be visiting Xplore! Science Discovery Centre on Friday 13th March. This will be an exciting opportunity for the children to explore hands‑on science activities and take part in interactive learning experiences.

We will leave school at  9.15am, returning at 2.00pm.

Nursery Attendance
Children in Nursery are welcome to attend if their usual attendance pattern includes a Friday or if they are in receipt of a valid 30‑hour code.

Lunch Arrangements

  • Nursery children attending the trip will need to bring a packed lunch from home.
  • All other children will have a school‑provided packed lunch for the day.

The cost for this trip is £17.80, which includes entry, transport, and insurance. Payment for this trip should be made via your child’s Arbor account prior to the date of the trip. Although costs for trips are voluntary, in reality, the school has no other means of funding these trips. We hope that everyone can contribute to the trip in some way.

Nutritionist Amy 🥒

To help the children understand what it means to lead a healthy lifestyle, we regularly talk about the importance of 4 main things: drinking water, eating a balanced diet, staying active, and getting plenty of sleep. 

Today, we were delighted to welcome Amy, a nutritionist, who spoke to the children about what makes a healthy diet. The children had the chance to smell and taste a range of fruits, vegetables, and herbs, sparking lots of curiosity and conversation.

Kingfishers are off to Blists Hill

We will be visiting Blists Hill to consolidate our learning linked to our History unit, based on childhood in the Victorian era. We will be focusing on shops, work, toys and more importantly, taking part in the old school room workshop!

The visit will take place on Wednesday 21st January, departing school at 9:15 am and returning at the end of the school day.

The cost for this trip is £18.05, which includes entry, workshop, transport, and insurance. Payment for this trip should be made via your child’s Arbor account prior to the date of the trip. Although costs for trips are voluntary, in reality, the school has no other means of funding these trips. We hope that everyone can contribute to the trip in some way.

Remembrance Day 🌺

Today, we all came together to honour those who have served and sacrificed for our country. At 11am, pupils and staff observed a two-minute silence, reflecting on the bravery and resilience of our armed forces past and present.

As part of our learning, we explored authentic medals awarded to a war hero.

We are proud of how our children showed respect and curiosity!

We are excited to share our festive plans! Please mark these dates and join us for some wonderful seasonal activities:

✨ Thursday 27th November – Community Fashion Show (7:00–9:00 pm)
👗 Enjoy a fun evening of browsing and shopping. Tickets can be purchased from the Arbor shop at £6 per ticket (adult-only event). Please invite friends to join the fun. The bar will be open.

🌟 Friday 28th November – Christmas Light Switch-On (5:30–7:30 pm)

Bring your family and friends for food, fun, and festive activities. It promises to be a great night!
£2 per adult / £1 per child – please bring cash on the night. No need to pre-book tickets.

🎀 Wednesday 3rd December – Festive Wreath Making (7:00–9:00 pm)
🌿 Create your own beautiful Christmas wreath! 🥂 Enjoy a glass of prosecco on arrival and nibbles throughout the evening. Last year’s event was fantastic, so book early to secure your place.
Tickets: £65 per person, available at the office (cash only). Limited availability.

🎬 Saturday 6th December – Christmas Movie Morning (10:00 am–12:00 pm)
🎄 Please only purchase a ticket for your child if you know they will comfortably sit through a Christmas movie. This gives you a chance to do some Christmas shopping!
Tickets: £6 per child, available through Arbor.

Wednesday 10th December – Nativity Performances (2:00 pm & 5:00 pm)
⭐ Come and see your little one perform in this year’s Nativity play. ☕ Hot and cold drinks will be available.

🎭 Thursday 11th December – Nursery (Thursday attendees), Reception & Cubby Theatre Trip
Children will visit the theatre to see The Tales of Acorn Wood.
Please note: later collection time of 3:45 pm for children attending this trip.
Cost: £16.45, payable via your child’s Arbor account before the trip date.
Although trip costs are voluntary, the school has no other means of funding these activities. We hope everyone can contribute in some way.

🛏 Friday 12th December – Year 2 Big Sleepover (6:00 pm)
More details to follow from Mr Irvine.

Fresh air & reflections 💭

We rounded the half term off with a whole school walk around the estate, breathing in the fresh air, appreciating the beauty of the nature around us and reflecting with our friends on what’s been a brilliant start to the year. 🍂

We were treated to a story by our super storytellers and shared our class pumpkins with each other before reminding ourselves of our 3 school rules that apply both in and out of school; be kind, be ready, be safe. ⭐️

Have a fabulous half term break – we will see you back on the 4th November. ✨
