Little City are visiting us on Wednesday 24th September.

Role Play Workshop with Little City, Shropshire

We are excited to share that our Early Years children will be taking part in a special role play workshop led by Little City, Shropshire. This engaging session will give children the opportunity to explore a miniature world created just for them, where they can take on different roles and professions in a fun, hands-on environment.

Workshops like this are a fantastic way to support imaginative development and early play skills, encouraging creativity, communication, and collaboration. We can’t wait to see where their imaginations take them!

We are fortunate that this has been funded by our “Boosting Bowbrook” fund. Thank you for your continued generosity which helps us to provide  these amazing opportunities to all of our children.

Dragonflies go pond dipping 🎣

Dragonflies explored our beautiful Shropshire Hills today. ☀️

They went pond dipping and found snails, fish, water boatmen, nymphs, a leech and even a tadpole! They then went on a mini beast hunt with nets, trays and magnifying glasses. A glorious day out, to inspire and ignite our children’s curiosity surrounding the great outdoors! 🔍

Letter from Mr Aiston regarding the safety of children in & around school.

Dear Parents/ Carers

I am writing to address the concerns regarding safety in and around the school.

We have met with the Council this morning to look at how we can make the site safe at pick up and drop off times. We explored the potential second entrance on to Wrekin Dove close. Currently, the Council have stated that this is not a viable option as planning permission is needed and there is a lack of infrastructure in the area.

Please be assured that we are working with the Council to find effective resolutions. We kindly ask for your patience and cooperation during this time. Can you ensure that you allow us to handle the matter rather than taking any actions independently?

There are several options currently being explored, and we are committed to finding the best possible solution. We will be able to provide you with definite timelines and further details in a meeting scheduled to take place immediately after the Easter break.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

Yours sincerely,

Wibble Wobble Jelly… 💭

Dragonflies have been observing the change when making jelly!

Not only was this the perfect opportunity for the children to learn new science vocabulary, but they then explained their knowledge in their amazing writing!

👏🏻 ⭐️

Rainbow Science 🌈 🧪

D A Y  T H R E E 👩🏼‍🔬👨‍🔬

Today we were lucky enough to be joined by Kate again, who taught us how to make rainbows in test tubes! 🧪

We added universal indicator to milk, lemon juice, vinegar, water & toothpaste! Each one made a different colour for our rainbow. 🌈

Investigations, experiments and curiosity 💭

D A Y T W O 🧪🧬

Our day started with an exciting workshop from Kate Thomas, Flo’s Mummy, who is a Science Teacher!

We looked at sand and salt under microscopes, saw how gloop changed from a liquid to a solid, explored diffusion of colour using skittles & solved a very serious crime (Mrs Madden’s stolen cupcake) using chromatography!

This afternoon, Supersonic Sue came in to explore the lifecycle of a caterpillar with us.

A brilliant, busy day full of lots of ‘why’ questions & curious minds. 🧬

🌸 Mothers Day Celebration 🌸

Mothers Day Celebration Wednesday 26th March 1.15pm-2.15pm OR 2.15pm-3.15pm

We are excited to invite you to our special Mother’s Day Workshop! This event will be held on Wednesday, 26th March. We have 44 tickets available for both time slots.

During the workshop, you and your little one will have the opportunity to participate in two fun activities, involving Baking and Flowers.

To ensure everyone has a chance to join in the fun, sign-up will open on Arbor Shop for the price of £5 on Monday, 10th March. Bookings will close on Friday 21st March. Please note that we can only accommodate one ticket per child. If mums/carers are not available, nans/grandmothers are welcome to take their place.

Please don’t worry if you are unable to join. Children without an adult will stay in class and take part in other Mother’s Day crafts.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Potato Characters 🥔 📕

A few new Bowbrook members joined the school today… our World Book Day Potato Characters! 🥔

It was clear that a lot of time, effort & decorating had gone into these fabulous potatoes!

From Daddy Pig to Tiddler, Supertato to Snow White, we had a wide range of characters on display. ⭐️

Who can you spot in the pictures? 👏🏻

Campfire Stories 🔥🪵

This afternoon, our Forest School leaders Mrs Engler and Miss Stone treated us to a story around the campfire! Our story was about a stick & we all had a stick to use as a prop through the story!

And of course, it wouldn’t be Forest School without a hot chocolate. ☕️ 😋

Thank you Miss Stone & Mrs Engler ⭐️

Mr Wolf’s Pancakes 🐺🥞

We started our Book Week with an exciting story with Mr Aiston about a crocodile who didn’t like water! 🐊

Then, we had an exciting Mr Wolf’s Pancakes workshop, led by the Wolf herself! We met lots of fairytale characters along the way and were inspired to explore the story more in our classrooms this afternoon. 🥞

Shropshire Primary Schools Half Marathon 🏃‍♀️

Dear Parents/ Carers,

You may have heard of the Shropshire Primary Schools Half Marathon. It is where children aged between 4-11 take part in a running challenge.

We have entered our school for this event. The idea is that our children (from Dragonflies and Kingfishers) run several miles in school over the next few weeks. The finishing event is on Saturday 12th April at the West Mid Showground where the children will run just over a mile to complete the challenge. Parents will need to accompany their children to this event. You will be met by myself on arrival.

The event is an inclusive challenge with the children developing healthy habits to exercise regularly, under no pressure to compete and at the same time complete something challenging. This will be a wonderful confidence boost for everyone involved and a major achievement. It will be lots of fun too!

If your child would like to participate, could you pay £5 via Arbor by the 1st March? We are subsidising the fees to get as many children involved as we can. The children will be provided with a t-shirt and a race number for the event.

Grandparents Tea Party ☕️

Welcome Grandparents!

The grandparents of some of our Dragonflies visited the class today to share the similarities and differences from their school days.

We treated them to a piece of cake we had baked in our cookery room and loved showing off our classroom and all the modern resources we are lucky to have.

What a wonderful afternoon.

Exciting Whole School Trip to Enginuity 🚌

We thought we would launch British Science Week with a fun filled day at Enginuity.

The visit will take place on Monday the 10th of March, departing school at 9.15am and returning around 2.00pm

The cost of this trip is £14.25, which includes the cost of entry, transport and insurance. Payment for this trip should be made via your child’s Arbor account prior to the date of the trip. Although costs for trips are voluntary, in reality the school has no other means of funding these trips. We hope that everyone can contribute to the trip in some way.

This trip is available for all of Kingfishers, Dragonflies and Caterpillars. Note for Caterpillar parents: if your child does not usually attend Nursery on a Monday, but they would like to join the trip, there will be an additional charge for care charged at £33 for the day. This trip is completely optional for those children.

Children will need to wear school uniform and bring a waterproof coat. Packed lunches will be provided for Dragonflies and Kingfishers. Caterpillars will need to bring a packed lunch. All children will need to bring water bottles.

Please note that this visit is covered by the Annual Consent Form for Trips/visits & Medical Information. Please notify the school immediately if there are any changes to your contact/emergency contact details or medical information.

Our very own inspirational people ✨ ☁️

DAY FIVE ✨

Today was all about our very own inspirational people…our children. 🤍

We discussed all of the amazing things we have explored this week; the famous people, the visitors, the workshops & we thought about what OUR big dream was.

We’ve created our very own dream jars. We added some magic sparkles and bright colours but we know that for our dreams to come true, we need to work hard, be determined and to never give up but to accept the help from our adults and peers when we need it. ☁️

Happy Friday everybody, what an inspirational week we’ve had. ✨

Fashion designers, fossil hunters, planet savers and much, much more! ☁️

DAY TWO ☁️

Working collaboratively with children from across the school, our children took part in a variety of workshops.

VIVIENNE WESTWOOD 👗
We designed, up-cycled and accessorised dresses & shirts.

DAVID ATTENBOROUGH & GRETA THUNBERG 🌍
We made placards to encourage people to help save our planet!

DEREK REDMOND 🏃‍♂️
We explored thoughts & feelings of training & running an important race. We learnt to never give up but to accept help when we need it.

MARY ANNING 🦖
We made our own fossils using dinosaur bones!

When I grow up, I want to…work at the Hospital! 🏥

What an amazing visit from Mrs Mammone! She works at the hospital with the anaesthesia team, looking after people when they need an operation. The children were so excited to meet ‘Fred’ and find out about all the equipment that is needed to keep him asleep.
Thank you so much!
