When I grow up, I’d like to be a Firefighter! 🚒

Thank you so much Firefighter Alan for coming and talking to us about the job of a firefighter. We loved learning all about how to stay safe in a fire and the equipment a Firefighter uses! It was very heavy and hot! But of course our favourite part was seeing a real fire truck and seeing the hose squirt water!

When I grow up, I’d like to be a Doctor! 👩‍⚕️

Thank you so much to Dr Bailey who kindly came this afternoon to talk to the children about her job as a GP. They were very keen to find out about all the different instruments she can use to check patients over. They were intrigued by the models of the heart and spine. I wonder if your child can remember some of the new vocabulary!
There were plenty of keen future doctors…… even when they found out it took 10 years to be fully trained!

Dragonflies go swimming… 🏊

Spring term (although a very frosty start) sees the start of Dragonflies swimming sessions! We were so proud of the resilience, determination & bravery our children showed today. A true act of ‘feel the fear and do it anyway!’💪🏻

Thank you to our friends at Shrewsbury School for the pool usage again – by working together with our community, we can provide opportunities like these for our children.

Bowbrook’s Got Talent 🌟

Bowbrook really has got talent! Our little superstars shone today as they took to the stage to perform their acts. Dancers, singers, comedians, artists, train enthusiasts – we had it all! We are so proud of you Bowbrook, you felt the fear & did it anyway! 💪🏻 & you would ALL get the golden buzzer in our eyes. 🥇 🌟

The Greatest Show 🌟

We visited our friends at Adcote School this afternoon to watch a special showing of their production, The Greatest Show.

An inspiring visit with some wonderful role models for our own little performers!

Future Doctors and Nurses

We have some future doctors and nurses in our school.

Today, we looked at how to keep our hearts and bodies healthy before exploring some lamb’s hearts and learning how they pump blood around our body.

A fascinating Science workshop that the children loved!

Old MacDonald had a Farm 🚜

As part of Nursery Rhyme Week and to provide us with the opportunity to compare different animals, we had a visit from the Farm on Wheels. We were interested to find out whether they were carnivores or herbivores and used this information to compare and contrast with the animals we saw at Chester Zoo.

Remembrance at Oxon Church

Our little ones visited Oxon Parish Church, Shrewsbury for the first time today.
Reverend Charlotte showed Dragonflies and Kingfishers around the church and taught the children all about Remembrance Day.
It was a lovely experience for us!

Pumpkin Soup 🎃

After reading our text ‘ Pumpkin Soup’, Miss Jones kindly bought her soup maker in and showed us how to make some! We were excellent helpers and most people really enjoyed it.

“Who will help make some bread?”

We were interested in yeast being an activator to male the dough rise. There were gasps of delight when it rose! We discussed how the dough was sticky, stretchy, soft, warm and bouncy.

All about Scarecrows 🚜

We have been learning about Scarecrows keeping the birds off the seeds. We read a story about scarecrows and then made some of our own!

A Sky full of Stars ✨ 🎶

https://www.facebook.com/share/v/z2awAwCEYqcgf2q1/?mibextid=WC7FNe

At Bowbrook, we want our children to be confident communicators! In order to do so, we pride ourselves on using Makaton in our school to ensure all children have the best opportunity to communicate and interact effectively. 🙌🏼

Our singing assembly this half term has focused on the song ‘A sky full of stars’ by Coldplay – a fitting song for a school full of little stars. ✨

Autumn walk 🍂

Coats on and off we went for a (slightly soggy) autumn walk.
We spotted lots of seasonal changes; the colour of the leaves, conkers on the ground & some pumpkins and Halloween decorations around the estate!
We love getting out & about and are always very proud of our children’s behaviour.

Robots 🤖

What a fantastic afternoon learning how to create a sequence of instructions to programme a robot. It was great fun!

Habitat building!

We’ve been making enclosures in imagination playground. This week we have been learning new vocabulary of ‘habitats‘ and ‘liberate’. Some animals would be ‘ forlorn’ if they didn’t like their new enclosures so we included trees, climbing branches, swinging ropes and pools!
Can you guess which animal they are for?

Sharing picnic & performances 🎵

We had a fabulous time at our sharing picnic yesterday afternoon. It was lovely to see so many of our parents there to celebrate what has been a fantastic year! ✨

The children performed some songs they’ve been practising in assembly & class time and our (slightly depleted) choir, the tremendous trio, showed courage and bravery to sing solos in front of a large audience!

Food Roadshow!

It was a close call between the Green Peas and the Red Chilli’s but the Red Chilli’s just topped the vote! What a fantastic afternoon learning about a balanced diet and cooking up some tasty meals. 😋

A little bit of rain won’t stop us!

The rain didn’t dampen our spirits for our last trip of the year! We went on a river cruise down the Severn before enjoying a picnic and a play in the Quarry park. The perfect way to end the year.

Football football football

The biggest football match of the weekend took place at Bowbrook Primary.

Thank you to the parents for being such good sports and being brave enough to take on the mighty Bowbrook Reception class.

Everyone had fun, no one got (badly) injured and there was some great goals.
