Sir Elton John 💎

Today’s inspirational person was Sir Elton John. The children thought his style was ‘funky’ and ‘sparkly’ and were inspired to make their own Elton John style glasses. We listened to his music & decided it made us feel ‘jiggy’ and ‘bouncy’!

Fashion designers, fossil hunters, planet savers and much, much more! ☁️

DAY TWO ☁️

Working collaboratively with children from across the school, our children took part in a variety of workshops.

VIVIENNE WESTWOOD 👗
We designed, up-cycled and accessorised dresses & shirts.

DAVID ATTENBOROUGH & GRETA THUNBERG 🌍
We made placards to encourage people to help save our planet!

DEREK REDMOND 🏃‍♂️
We explored thoughts & feelings of training & running an important race. We learnt to never give up but to accept help when we need it.

MARY ANNING 🦖
We made our own fossils using dinosaur bones!

Little Chefs 🧑‍🍳

Little Chefs 🧑‍🍳
Star Biscuits for our little chefs today.
So many great learning opportunities; teamwork, measuring, communication and language, turn-taking, life skills and the best bit – taste testing!
Although not all of our Little Chefs took part in baking today, they said it would ‘be kind’ (one of our school rules) to make enough biscuits to share with the whole class. What kind little ones we have!🌟

Bowbrook’s Got Talent 🌟

Bowbrook really has got talent! Our little superstars shone today as they took to the stage to perform their acts. Dancers, singers, comedians, artists, train enthusiasts – we had it all! We are so proud of you Bowbrook, you felt the fear & did it anyway! 💪🏻 & you would ALL get the golden buzzer in our eyes. 🥇 🌟

Ice exploration ❄️

Ice exploration at forest school!

We found different shapes and talked about their properties. Then we explored how long it took for the ice to melt and what helped the ice melt quickly!

Penguins! 🐧

Today has centred around penguins! Where do they live? What do they eat? What do they like to do? Some children set up a slide for the penguins and tested the materials to see if they were ‘slippy’ enough. We used words like ‘rough, smooth, shiny, soft’ to predict whether the penguins would be able to slide.

This led us on to talk about cold colours and some of us explored mixing blue and white paint to make different shades.

Great work, Caterpillars!

Old MacDonald had a Farm 🚜

As part of Nursery Rhyme Week and to provide us with the opportunity to compare different animals, we had a visit from the Farm on Wheels. We were interested to find out whether they were carnivores or herbivores and used this information to compare and contrast with the animals we saw at Chester Zoo.

Mini Chefs🧑‍🍳🍕

After our trip to Pizza Express last week, our mini chefs took to the Bowbrook Pizzaria this morning to prepare, cook & sell some delicious pizzas to their grown ups!

Our first forest fire 🔥🍿

Caterpillars had their first fire at forest school. They saw and helped make some popcorn from kernel’s. They were amazed at how it changed with the heat and started popping….

A Sky full of Stars ✨ 🎶

https://www.facebook.com/share/v/z2awAwCEYqcgf2q1/?mibextid=WC7FNe

At Bowbrook, we want our children to be confident communicators! In order to do so, we pride ourselves on using Makaton in our school to ensure all children have the best opportunity to communicate and interact effectively. 🙌🏼

Our singing assembly this half term has focused on the song ‘A sky full of stars’ by Coldplay – a fitting song for a school full of little stars. ✨

Autumn walk 🍂

Coats on and off we went for a (slightly soggy) autumn walk.
We spotted lots of seasonal changes; the colour of the leaves, conkers on the ground & some pumpkins and Halloween decorations around the estate!
We love getting out & about and are always very proud of our children’s behaviour.

Pizza Express Trip for Caterpillars (Thursday children only)

Caterpillars are off to Pizza Express.

The Nursery children have shown a keen interest in cooking. This will give the children first hand experience of what a Chef does and what a Chef looks like. We are excited to take them to Pizza Express to experience being a Chef for the morning.

The visit will take place on Thursday 17th of October, departing school at 9.00am and returning around 11.45am.

The cost for this trip is £12.15, covering the cost of transport and insurance. Payment for this trip should be made via your child’s Arbor account prior to the date of the trip.. Although costs for trips are voluntary, in reality the school has no other means of funding these trips. We hope that everyone can contribute to the trip in some way.

All children will need to bring water bottles. Please also ensure that they wear school uniform and have a coat with them.

Please note this trip is only open to Nursery children with attendance patterns including a Thursday.

Please note that this visit is covered by the Annual Consent Form for Trips/visits & Medical Information. Please notify the school immediately if there are any changes to your contact/emergency contact details or medical information.

Enabling environments to promote a love of reading 📕

A rich learning environment is something we are very passionate about at Bowbrook! Promoting curiosity, awe and wonder through an enabling environment means our children are inspired and excited to learn every day. Whilst our Caterpillar children are interested in all things bear related, we’ve enhanced our environment to promote storytelling and sequencing.

Who’s been eating my porridge?

Caterpillars are so engrossed in the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears as well as other Bear stories!
We explored making porridge in the mud kitchen to feed to the bears. Then, we made our own porridge in the cookery room to try. We had 3 different toppings and we took a vote on which one was our favourite after thinking of different adjectives to describe the taste and texture. The sticky syrup was the firm favourite! Yummy. 🍯

If you go down to the woods today…

Following the interest of Bears, the Caterpillar children designed, made & enjoyed a Teddy Bear’s Picnic with some special friends they brought from home.
We enjoyed having a story from Miss Stone’s magic basket too. A wonderful sunny afternoon! 🐻

Bear Pizza Making…

Keeping with our children’s interest on bears we decided to make some bear pizzas in our cookery room. The children independently made them. They watched Big Cook Little Cook, whilst their pizzas were baking.  They were absolutely delicious and a very successful cooking day!

Forest School

Forest School

Caterpillars loved their first visit this term to our forest school. We explored our new surroundings, then went on a bear hunt. Lots of amazing vocabulary and fun.

Sharing picnic & performances 🎵

We had a fabulous time at our sharing picnic yesterday afternoon. It was lovely to see so many of our parents there to celebrate what has been a fantastic year! ✨

The children performed some songs they’ve been practising in assembly & class time and our (slightly depleted) choir, the tremendous trio, showed courage and bravery to sing solos in front of a large audience!
