Headteacher update

It has been another great at Bowbrook. The highlight has to be the Grandparent’s Tea Party which was incredibly well attended and loads of fun.
I know from my own experience how important extended families are for supporting childcare and we want to recognise this. Our visitors were blown away by the facilities we have on offer and spoke to the children about the differences in school to when they they were younger.

We are continuing to attend Inside Out for forest school sessions. We are borrowing the mini bus from our good friends at the Priory to take the children there. We are exploring the idea of purchasing our own mini bus for next academic year. We are already planning how we can make Summer term, and next year, bigger and better with even more opportunities.

I can’t believe how fast the term is going. Next week is the final week and we have planned for next Friday to have a bingo night in school where we want members of our community to come along too. It will hopefully be fun for everyone!

Any ideas or feedback you wish to share then do not hesitate to get in touch.

Grandparent’s Tea Party

Next Thursday we have the Grandparent’s Tea Party. We are so excited to welcome our grandparents into our school. The ingredients have arrived!

Forces!

We will be outside in all weathers so we want everyone wrapped up. There are so many amazing learning opportunities outside; it can be the best classroom in the world. This week we have explored forces at lunchtimes and it has been great fun!

Headteacher’s update

Hope everyone has had a great week.

Our Heroes in the community week extended into Heroes in the community fortnight as we had visits from firefighters and the police this week. The children gain so much from these experiences and it is vital for them in helping them understand the world around them. I need to thank all our parents who have been in over the last couple of weeks. It is fantastic that as a community we work in partnership to provide a rich and exciting education for our little ones.

As you know our school is growing and we are setting up waiting lists for our Nursery and will be doing the same for our Reception class from next September. To accommodate this we have recruited some new members to our team and we will be introducing them shortly to our family and community.

Next week we have our children’s grandparents visiting the school for cake and drinks and the opportunity to have a look around and see what their grandchildren get up to. I know from my own family, the importance of extended families these days and we want to acknowledge their contribution.

We have put back our Around the World week until after half term to continue with our work around the people in our community.

Have a great week.

Headteacher’s update

This has been a wonderful week at Bowbrook. One of the specific areas in the Early Years curriculum is Understanding the World. Within Understanding the World, the children need to develop their understanding of society and the roles people play within it. We are so lucky at Bowbrook to have parents who contribute so much to society so this week we have had many visitors in school talking about the jobs that they do. Please look at our website and social media for what the children have been learning.

Currently we are recruiting for more staff to join our growing team. We are excited by this and have met many interested candidates. When we have appointed, we will let you know and we look forward to you welcoming them into our school community.

Thank you for your continued support as a community. We are really proud with the school we are creating and are excited about the future. As always, if there are any issues or any improvements you feel we could make then please let me know.

Have a great weekend and wrap up warm.

Dance club is back!

The children love Dance and are preparing for a performance at the Theatre Severn!

We have a range of After schools this half term.

We love PE

We love PE in our school. It is an opportunity to take ourselves out of our comfort zone and work on our gross motor skills.

Phonics

Every morning we do Phonics with the children. This is a highly effective way of teaching the children to decode words and as a result be able to read fluently and confidently. At Bowbrook the scheme we use is Unlocking Letters and Sounds.

Headteacher’s welcome

Welcome back everyone

I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas. We have been hearing all about what everyone has been up to and the presents that the children received and the presents that they gave to their family.

The new term is under way and it has been a wonderful start. There are quite a few new starters in Nursery and we welcome our new families. I have no doubt that they will love being part of the school community that we are growing.

To cope with the increasing demand, we are looking for some new support staff to work in our Nursery and someone to help out across dinnertimes, both on the kitchen and supporting the children.

There are lots planned for the next few weeks. The children have already been to Think tank in Birmingham and next week we are looking at the roles people have in the community as part of a week focusing on heroes. If anyone would like to visit and speak to the children about their job then please get in touch.

It is a pleasure to be the Headteacher of the school and I am excited about the learning and the opportunities that we have coming up.

Any issues then please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Headteacher update

I love these last weeks before Christmas. The children are so excited and it makes being in school magical.

We have had an action packed week as you will see from the newsletter. We have also been showing around more parents wanting to send their children to us when they begin Reception in September. We are growing the school steadily and will never compromise on quality. We are looking to expand our staff and still have a lunchtime supervisor vacancy and will be releasing a vacancy for a Teaching Assistant this week.

A quick note on the Nativity: we had our nursery children involved and we were thrilled that our 3 year olds took part. As a school, we are inclusive and we want everyone to take part whatever their ability or age. I know our families appreciate this and that is why as a staff, parent group, governing body, 3-18 Trust we are proving such an effective team.

Pantomime next week as well as Christmas parties – it is going to be a wild one!

ICT at Bowbrook

We have had a delivery of i-pads and have a range of apps to support the children’s learning. We love technology at Bowbrook!

Teamwork

We constantly talk to the children about the importance of working as part of a team and ensuring we all help one another.

Exploring time

A huge part of the Early Years Foundation Stage is the physical, social and emotional development of our children. We use the outdoor area as much as we can to enable this.

Clubs

We are having great fun at our After school clubs. This half term we have done Football, Board games, Coding and Dance club.

Headteacher update

Just two weeks to go until we break up. This is a wonderful time of the year and so exciting for our children. Thankyou to all the people who came to our Christmas Fair – we love our community and we will be looking to arrange many more events next term.

We have been discussing plans for the future and the plan is to grow the school one year group at a time. We believe that this will enable us to build our teaching team gradually, continue the strong relationships that we have built with our families whilst building an exciting and challenging curriculum.

We are making plans for next term and will be looking at real life heroes. We will be inviting members of our community into school to talk about their roles in society.  As well as this we will be having lots of fun and ensuring that we are a ‘school of opportunity’.

I will see plenty of you next week when we welcome you in for our Nativity. This is always a great event and I am sure you are looking forward to us as much as we are.

Teamwork

In Assemblies we have been talking about teamwork. We have discussed examples from the animal kingdom including penguins, killer whales, meerkats and geese.

The children are really progressing in terms of co-operating and achieving a common goal.

Headteacher update

The Christmas build up has started.

Nativity practice is underway; there’s nothing better than hearing the children singing when you are in a school and I know that our first ever Nativity is going to be wonderful.

We are getting a Christmas tree delivered next week and we will be switching the lights on next Friday evening and would love it if you are able to pop along for a mulled wine with us all.

Projects that we have on the go at the moment include the library and our outdoor area outside the classroom. Plans have been drawn up, resources ordered and work will be underway shortly.

We had our first school photographs done this week with mixed results. There are some beautiful pictures that I am sure parents will love and there are some staff ones that will be going in the bin!

Headteacher update

What a fantastic week this has been. We started Monday with yoga and mindfulness in our dance studio and ended the week covered in mud at Forest school at Inside Out.

It has been Nursery Rhyme week and it has been action packed. We have been using green screens, visited Shrewsbury museum, dressed up, had the parents in for stay and play as well as having a visit from Reverend Charlotte.

We also had another show around school for parents of children looking to join us next September. We have had a great deal of interest which shows the reputation we are creating for ourselves in the community. This is down to the hard work of our staff who have been incredible and are providing so many wonderful opportunities to supplement the children’s learning.

We still have spaces in our Nursery so please get in touch if you are interested. Funding begins in the term after your child’s third birthday.

Have a wonderful weekend and we look forward to next week which promises to be action packed once again!

Harvest Assembly

We performed some Harvest songs for our parents and carers today. We sang a couple of the classics and some that we have learned with Mrs Porrett. We used Makaton to accompany some of our songs.

Thanks to everyone for your support. We are proud of our little superstars!

Headteacher’s update

We have had a lovely first week back in school.

There has been a really calm atmosphere this week. I am pretty sure this will not be the case as we lead up to Christmas. This half term is such a magical time in a primary school and all the staff are really excited for it.

We have had our first Parents’ Evening this week and the feedback from parents and staff was great to hear (although conversations went on longer than expected so timings were not great). I feel that everyone enjoyed sharing the successes of the year so far.

We have been back swimming this week and it really is such a brilliant experience to see the children ‘feeling the fear and doing it anyway’. It will be something that we will  be looking to continue further on in the year and as the children go through school.

We have Nursery rhyme week, nativities and visits to the theatre as well as a range of visitors in an action packed half term. It is is going to great!

Enjoy the weekend.

Coming up next week

Next week we look forward to our Nursery Rhyme Week.  Rhyming and awareness of Rhythm helps develop speech and early reading skills so it’s important we get involved with this initiative.

We look forward to welcoming parents/carers into school for Tuesday’s Stay and Play.

For Tuesday’s Fancy Dress the children are welcome to bring in £1 to support Children in Need next week.

Headteacher update

What a first term. I can’t believe that the first 8 weeks is over.

We have an incredible time and whilst we will enjoy our week off, we are excited for the next half term and the run up to Christmas.

We are immensely proud of the school, the culture, the community we are creating. I know this is just the beginning but so many things are in place to ensure this school provides a fantastic education to our young learners.

Looking back through all our posts, I am thrilled to see the opportunities that the children have had. We will sustain this and live up to the ‘school of opportunity’. The children have made great progress in a short space of time. Their reading, writing and maths has progressed extremely well and the books, data and observations reflect this. However, what is harder to measure is the children’s progress in their personal, social and emotional development but we can see how this has developed and we are so proud of our little ones.

Have a great half term everyone.

Looking forward to seeing everyone next Monday.

New bikes and trikes

Our new bikes and trikes have arrived and the children can’t wait to try them out.

They are great for burning off energy whilst working on balance, co-ordination and spatial awareness.
