More hedgehog fun! 🦔

Today we used our cookery room to make hedgehog bread! We measured, mixed and knead the dough before rolling it into a ball. Then, we used a fork to make the spines! 

We took our bread to Forest School & enjoyed them with bread and jam and a hot chocolate to wash it down – deeeelicious! We sat by our campfire to keep ourselves cosy whilst we shared a story about a lost fox. 🦊

A brilliantly, busy day in Caterpillars! 

We started our morning by looking at some hedgehogs and where they lived. We wondered what they eat, where they like to sleep & why we don’t normally see them in the daytime. 

Each child got given a ‘little hedgehog’ and an empty ‘house’. We collected natural objects and talked about how they liked to hibernate (our word of the week) in dark, cosy places. 

We were shocked to find out they didn’t like to eat chicken nuggets and ketchup sauce but they did like to eat worms and caterpillars! 

This afternoon, we read ‘that’s not my hedgehog’ and then we explored new textures & thought of words to describe ‘spiky, smooth and cold’ were some of our great ideas!
