Headteacher’s update
What another fantastic week at Bowbrook.
Last Saturday we had our first birthday. I can hardly believe how fast the first year has gone. It has been a whirlwind. I am so proud of the community that we have created and the relationships we have with our families. We have more than tripled in size in that year and the challenge for us is to maintain the relationships and continue to provide a wealth of opportunities for our children.
Our community supported us again at our MacMillan coffee afternoon. We raised £500 which is a great effort and we thank everyone for their generosity. It also provided a great opportunity for the children to take their families around school and show off some of the wonderful areas that we have.
We also have a great deal happening with our curriculum and as well as the Spanish, swimming, PE, Cookery and everything else we do, we have been developing our Computing curriculum. We had a visit from Amazing ICT who showed us some robotics and coding which the children loved. He also provided some professional development for the staff.
We have some other visits and visitors planned over the next couple of weeks and we will share our experience with these.
Thank you very much for your support, we appreciate it very much.

Robotics and Coding with Amazing ICT
We are preparing our children for the digital world.
We want our little ones to be critical thinkers and be able to use, express themselves and develop their ideas through technology.
Thankyou to Amazing ICT for working with our children before running a professional development session for our staff.
£500 raised for MacMillan Cancer Charity!
As part of our open classroom event this afternoon, we sold some delicious treats to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Charity.
We managed to raise £500 which we are incredibly pleased with.
The children loved showing their parents around the school & it was another great opportunity for the community to come together.
Bowbrook turns One!
Thank you for everyone who attended our Birthday party. We all had a great time and once again our community came out in force to support the school!

Experiments, rainbows and snails 🐌
What an afternoon! 🧪
The children loved our afternoon at The Priory school with Mrs Rayment in the Science lab!
We took part in experiments that made us go WOW!!!🤩 Making rainbows, colour changing milk and the children’s favourite watching the fire bubbles!
We also held some stick insects and snails, and managed to bring back to school with us some new friends… 🐌
Chess club!
We have introduced Chess club for our Kingfishers this year.
Our children are learning the basics and we have high hopes for them in the future.

Outdoor adventures ☀️ 🍃
We made it out into the sunshine this afternoon.
We looked around first to see what had changed. We were introduced to our new fire square and talked about being safe.
Then we had fun exploring. The children tried new opportunities and were excited to get their wellies on. 🌳☀️🌳
Superstars!
Our aim is to provide opportunities for children with the hope that they continue to perform outside of school. We are always delighted when our children show determination, dedication and resilience outside of school.
Here we see Georgia showing off her Gymnastics medal. Go Georgia!

Habitat building!
We’ve been making enclosures in imagination playground. This week we have been learning new vocabulary of ‘habitats‘ and ‘liberate’. Some animals would be ‘ forlorn’ if they didn’t like their new enclosures so we included trees, climbing branches, swinging ropes and pools!
Can you guess which animal they are for?

Pizza Express Trip for Caterpillars (Thursday children only)
Caterpillars are off to Pizza Express.
The Nursery children have shown a keen interest in cooking. This will give the children first hand experience of what a Chef does and what a Chef looks like. We are excited to take them to Pizza Express to experience being a Chef for the morning.
The visit will take place on Thursday 17th of October, departing school at 9.00am and returning around 11.45am.
The cost for this trip is £12.15, covering the cost of transport and insurance. Payment for this trip should be made via your child’s Arbor account prior to the date of the trip.. Although costs for trips are voluntary, in reality the school has no other means of funding these trips. We hope that everyone can contribute to the trip in some way.
All children will need to bring water bottles. Please also ensure that they wear school uniform and have a coat with them.
Please note this trip is only open to Nursery children with attendance patterns including a Thursday.
Please note that this visit is covered by the Annual Consent Form for Trips/visits & Medical Information. Please notify the school immediately if there are any changes to your contact/emergency contact details or medical information.
