Starting school in Reception 2027

At Bowbrook, we have a September intake of Reception children with a maximum number of 30 places.

Children can attend primary school from the September following their 4th birthday. If your child’s 4th birthday falls between 1st September 2026 to 31st August 2027, Date of birth between 1 September 2022 and 31 August 2023, then they will start school in September 2027.

How to apply for a school place

The Local Authority, Shropshire Council manages the admissions process for all Reception September starters. Applications should be made online via the Shropshire Council website from the beginning of November 2026 to mid January 2027. You will be able to select your top 3 preferences of Primary School for your child.

Looking around our school

Choosing a school for your child is an extremely important decision for any parent. We recommend that Parents/Carers visit the school. There is nothing better than seeing the school day in action and getting a real flavour of a typical school day and school atmosphere. We host a range of dates for Parent Tours running from September to January for parents with children starting in September.

You do not need to book onto our School Tours, please turn up at Reception at any of the allotted dates above and our Office Co-ordinator Sarah will greet you.

Our Starting School section on the website also introduces you to the Early Years Foundation Stage at our Primary School.

Appeals

Shropshire Council Admissions Team co-ordinate and process all appeals on our behalf.

If you apply for a school place and are advised that there’s no place available you’re entitled to appeal to an independent appeals panel.

In Year Admissions

Bowbrook Primary School has classes in Reception, Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3 currently. From September 2027 we will have classes from Reception to year 4.

Shropshire Council coordinate and allocate all requests for places at our school.

If you wish to apply for a place at our school, please complete the online application form via this link – Synergy – Homepage (shropshire.gov.uk)

Your application will be processed by the School Admissions Team at Shropshire Council in accordance with our school’s oversubscription criteria. You will then be notified via letter of the outcome of your application.

Once you have been offered a place at our school, we will arrange a tour for families and start the induction process.
