Art is the expression of ideas, thoughts and feelings through sensory experience in a variety of two and three-dimensional media which includes music, dance, digital art, aspects of drama, craft activities, architecture and printmaking, alongside drawing, painting and sculpture. We are not concerned with a ‘finished’ piece of art work but more importantly the journey of the artistic process; through exploratory sketchbook work, we journey through the ideas, concepts and process of practicing and developing artistic skills. Through the medium of art, children can develop non-discriminatory attitudes and appreciate the works of art from a variety of cultures and time periods. Pupils learn Art History through their Artist Studies, learning about the life, influences, work and impact of a diverse selection of artists.
We like to create links with local artists to help us enhance artistic opportunities in school.
